Welcome to Gentle Minds Therapy
Dawn M. Moore, M.S., MFT, LADC

Choosing to talk with someone who is, for the most part, a complete stranger, about your most intimate and private life is an extremely difficult and courageous decision. I am honored that you have chosen to come to me with your concerns. My approach to relationships such as the one we are about to embark upon is of a genuine, objective, and respectful nature.

Counseling has been proven to help many individuals, couples, families and adolescents. I believe this is particularly true when you sincerely want change and follow through with exercises, activities, goal setting, and interventions that you and your counselor agree may be helpful. If counseling does not result in the change you had hoped for, I recommend that we discuss this so that we can help you decide whether to discontinue counseling, try alternative treatment techniques, or seek alternative help. You must also remember that many times, a person’s situation will get worse before it gets better when change is happening, and change sometimes requires a person to experience thoughts and feelings that are at times uncomfortable and scary. But remember, I am here for you at these times, and it is my belief that the end result will be well worth it to you.

My job as your therapist is to help you find your own answers. It is important that you understand that I am not a psychic, and I will not give you advice. I may offer suggestions and ask that you consider alternative ways of thinking and perceiving, but I am not an expert on your life. You are! My job is to help you to become more aware of the choices that you have, increase your ability to make informed decisions, and empower you to eventually become your own therapist! I look forward to working with you.
